My name is ŠIMON VEJVANČICKÝ (* 1981)
In my beginnings in around 1998 , I dealt mainly with landscape photography and also with documentary photography in the Slovak countryside. Even then, I was fascinated by the hidden environment of the large industrial areas in my hometown. My goal is to capture the unusual and mysterious industrial, the remnants of the great industrial era in Kladno in photographs. Document the industrial history of the city for future generations and contribute to the cultural development and aesthetic acceptance of industrial buildings.
I return to traditional analog photography, based on chemical processes and craftsmanship. I photograph exclusively on classic film material on large format 4x5 and 8x10 inch devices. That is, from the format 6x9cm through 10x12cm to 20x24cm (note: the stated dimensions refer to the dimensions of one film field). I use all types of films: both black and white and color negatives and slides, and last but not least Polaroid. This special material
in particular fascinated me with its results. It is often a long-ago expired film,
the results of which are influenced by its age or other techniques. I do the complete processing development of the films and prints myself in the darkroom. Due to the fact that my project has been a creative and artistic expression from the beginning, I have realized many exhibitions and won the Prague´s NOD Gallery - Curators Award of the competition of professional and amateur artists Samorosti 2015. Despite this, I do not find the pursuit of awards fulfilling any satisfactional. It is more important for me to look for and find new point of view, inspiring objects, to expose, to devote myself to manual development and dark room processing, and subsequently to the precise production of the whole artwork.
